Each light provokes a question of how we create atmosphere in a room. It is the antithesis of modern day lighting, sharing more in common with candlelight, where what lies in the shadows is as meaningful as what is in the light.I feel I stand in the shadows of this amazing work.”

“My interest in the possibilities of light in the domestic space evolved, whilst developing timber and glass roof lights.
Natural light illuminating a domestic space from above creates a palette of light and shade. The effects of light weaving patterns, by the hour, the day and season, I found interesting.
A realisation that it might be possible to light the same spaces, at night with artificial light, recreating some of the natural effects I had observed awakened in me.
I embarked on a journey of exploration. Producing lamps that combined geometric form, technical devices to control lighting effects, in an ongoing process of development.
They are conceived with: repurposed antique timbers, influenced by late nineteenth century scientific apparatus, with a spectrum of surface finishes.The journey continues, the destination elusive. This is my Age of Enlightenment.”
